CMS final decision on Power Seat Elevation Systems: ITEM press release

On May 16, 2023, CMS published a benefit category decision enacting that power seat elevation systems are classified as durable medical equipment, and should be covered for independent and dependent transfers, and for reaching in the home during mobility-related activities of daily living. The Clinician Task Force provided significant clinical input throughout this process, and we are very grateful for CMS decision that will impact the lives of wheelchair users for many years to come.
